Dr. Faisal is the pioneer of Liver Transplantation in Pakistan and he has successfully completed more than 850 living donor transplant surgeries in Pakistan. Dr. Ammara Naveed, graduated from Aga Khan University in 2007 after that she did internal medicine training in Temple University Hospital of USA in 2015, and then in Baylor College of Medicine, USA she completed fellowship program.
Dr Ammara worked at the University of Illinois, Chicago as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology before joining PKLI &RC. Dr. Hassan Mahmood is a medical doctor and public health professional. He did MBBS from Pakistan and Master’s in Public Health (MPH) from Cardiff University, United Kingdom. As a medical doctor and public health professional, he has a strong background of project management, service delivery, public health research and public health policies advocacy. Based on different public health projects, he has publications in peer reviewed national and international journals.
Dr. Mahmood has diversified experience of hospital management, project planning, project implementation and research-based advocacy at National, Provincial and District levels. He has been working in close collaboration with National and Provincial Health Departments to implement different public health projects/campaigns all over the country. These projects include hepatitis prevention and control, tobacco control, Tuberculosis (TB) control, HIV/AIDS control, infection control, injection safety, maternal newborn and neonatal child health (MNCH), cardiovascular diseases, hypertension and diabetes prevention and control.
He is actively involved in monitoring and evaluation of programs/projects, trainings of master trainers, capacity building of the staff, development of monitoring tools and establishment of monitoring mechanism in many districts. He has conducted capacity building and trainings sessions of health care providers, government health officials, lawyers and media persons on different public health related issues. He has conducted and executed public health research (e.g. conducting and coordinating the community-based research trials – mostly randomized controlled trials), surveys, data collection and statistical analysis of the data.

Dr. Laila Rizvi graduated from the Allama Iqbal Medical college in Lahore . She went on to do her training in “ Human Resource Development in Public Health” from Japan. Dr Rizvi has worked as Health and Emergency Officer with the UNICEF Sindh office for more than a decade. She has also been the CEO of The Health Foundation, a Civil Society Organisation working for a Hepatitis free Pakistan. Dr. Zaigham Abbas is the Head, Department of Hepatogastroenterology and Director of Liver Transplantation Program at Ziauddin University Hospital Clifton Karachi and consultant gastroenterologist at Aga Khan University Hospital.
