The Pakistan Society of Hepatology (PSH) was founded in June 2001 in Karachi and since then PSH has been striving to improve the practice of Hepatology in Pakistan. Today, it has assumed a leading position to provide the leading platform where national and international specialists meet in regional events and workshops in addition to our flagship annual meet to discuss the latest clinical practices and guidelines.

Take a Tour of our Conference Program

Our program features a comprehensive set of talks and interactive sessions meant to look into all facets of liver diseases with special focus on those with regional significance. Presenters recognized as global authorities in their subjects present the latest in workup, diagnosis and management in addition to providing ideas for future research.

Abstracts (PSH 2024)

After the abstract submission deadline, all the abstracts were reviewed by our committee of experts. Top entrants were selected to present their work as oral presentations and others as poster presentation. Research awards were given to the winners at the conference.

Faculty

PSH has, since its inception, been blessed to have world leaders in field of hepatology as part of its faculty. These professionals from across the globe are at the cutting edge in clinical hepatology as well as research in the field of liver disease. This makes PSH a unique melting pot where subject specialists from the world over come and discuss the latest their field.

Education

We give opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate education through regular annual meetings, endoscopic workshops and refresher courses for specialists. In addition, we also provide regular training sessions for general practitioners.

PSH COLLABORATIONS

PSH collaboration with the PARSA/ECHO trust aims to provide public, primary care physician and specialist awareness through regular talks and seminars. The greater social outreach abilities of the PARSA ECHO Trust are a perfect complement to the highly specialized workings of PSH.

PUBLIC AWARENESS PROGRAMS

Our public awareness programs provide great opportunities to educate the general public and healthcare policy makers about the social and economic impact of liver disease. In addition, they are designed to educate about early disease detection and encourage a professional care seeking behaviour.

WORKSHOPS

PSH regularly conducts training workshops focused on postgraduate trainees in hepatology fellowship programs and specialists. The workshops focus on the latest updates in disease management as well as furthering skills and techniques in high end intervention procedures such as ERCP and EUS.

SEMINARS

Our seminars provide great opportunities for regular, region-specific, countrywide dissemination of the latest in liver disease management. This ensures that a vast number of our primary, secondary and tertiary level physicians get direct access to leading consultants in the country and from our foreign faculty.

Guidelines for Quality Care

Pakistan society of Hepatology is working on local guidelines that are specialized and cater to specific issues with the South-Asian population of patients with liver pathologies. This will not mean a re-writing of standard guidelines but rather look at how our population is different in terms of drugs doses tolerance, diagnostics and procedure access and resources available to healthcare providers.

Who can join us?

PSH and its activities are targeted towards hepatologists, hepatobiliary and liver transplant surgeons and interventional radiologists with a special interest in hepatic pathologies. However, we also deeply appreciate the much wider footprint of liver disease and therefore we welcome all medical professionals including trainees, primary care physicians and specialists to join.
